The Moscamento Estate has regained its form and voice thanks to a faithful restoration by the Fischetti family. Every line has been preserved intact, and the the structure—dating back to the first half of the 19th century—continues to naturally provide an ideal microclimate for winemaking and aging.
Its layout — with round arches, interconnected stables, and spaces devoted to agricultural life — recalls an era when presence meant devotion, and dwelling among the vines was a daily act of reverence toward the land and its fruits.
Designed to host the landowner permanently, as was once customary, allowing him to closely follow every stage of grape cultivation: from pruning to harvest, from fermentation to preservation.
Today, the Moscamento Estate is the productive heart of the Fischetti Family—a place of silence and poetry, where wine is born not out of necessity, but by choice: the choice to preserve, pass on, and interpret the flavor of Etna.
The Vineyard
Our vineyard stretches across ancient lava flows, caressed by the breeze at 650 meters above sea level. Here, the Sicilian sunlight, softened by altitude, guides the ripening of the grapes with balance and consistency. The vines are cultivated in the traditional bush-trained method, arranged with equal spacing between each plant and row. This layout, typical of Etna’s most time-honored viticulture, demands entirely manual care. Every phase—from pruning to harvest—is entrusted to the skilled and passionate hands of experts.

La base della nostra coltivazione è composta principalmente da viti autoctone di Nerello Mascalese accostate a un numero ridotto di Nerello Cappuccio e, per i bianchi, da Catarratto e Carricante. A testimonianza della varietà etnea in epoca pre-fillosserica troviamo ulteriori specie come la Moscatella dell’Etna, la Minnella, il Grecanico e la Coda di Volpe che si affiancano alle coltivazioni principali. Inoltre, una folta presenza di viti ultracentenarie sono presenti ancora adesso e donano ogni volta un’annata con sfumature e caratteristiche diverse dalla precedente.
L’ambiente in cui crescono è un mosaico agricolo ricco di alberi da frutto, fiori spontanei e biodiversità naturale, che ritroviamo in forma delicata ma riconoscibile anche nel profilo organolettico dei nostri vini. Ogni intervento in vigna è pensato per valorizzare, e non alterare, questo equilibrio: un approccio che mira a restituire un’interpretazione alta e consapevole dell’Etna D.O.C., senza forzature, nel rispetto della materia viva che lo genera.
The Palmento
The true beating heart of the estate is our ancient Palmento, built from lava stone and still housing its original press—an intact example of Roman engineering. The term palmento likely derives from the Latin pavimentum, referring to the practice of crushing or pressing grapes directly on the stone floor. In this very space, the vectarii—workers who operated the press—once carried out the winemaking process, an ancient gesture that has survived the centuries. It is precisely here that our vision came to life, transforming the space into not only a place of passion and labor but a true home.
The Territory
Le vigne che da secoli costellano il territorio etneo hanno acquisito un carattere che riflette in modo sublime le proprietà di una terra miracolosa, ricca di contrasti; un panorama che abbraccia gli opposti restituendo qualcosa di assolutamente unico. Il filosofo e naturalista rinascimentale Andrea Bacci fece notare, nella sua De naturali vinorum historia, come la terra alle pendici dell’Etna, proprio in virtù della sua origine vulcanica, sia ricchissima di sostanze organiche e quanto questo si riflette nelle uve e, conseguentemente, nel vino che ne deriva.
Il connubio tra la lava del vulcano e la vicinanza del mare con le sue brezze a centinaia di metri di altitudine ci restituiscono vini unici nel sapore, nel profumo e nell’aroma che ne scaturiscono. Siamo fieri di essere custodi di un territorio riconosciuto come patrimonio mondiale dell’umanità dall’UNESCO, ma soprattutto felici di coltivare qui una storia di radici e famiglia, qualcosa di raro.
